Red Rocks Trail at Red Rocks Park
ETH Denver has officially commenced and builders from across the world have joined forces to build Web3 and possibly $3M in contests. This is my first time in Denver, The Mile High City, and upon arrival, I was greeted with snow and a brisk wind chill. Luckily, the forecast calls for sunshine all week! Thanks to the Harmony protocol, a blockchain that aims to support 10,000 creators with $300 million in funding, my first stop of the night was the Blake Tavern, for a few hours of unlimited karaoke, arcade games, and free-flowing drinks and food. When I say ‘I’ll do anything’, I mean it. My desires are simple – if you can provide me with food, luxury shelter and a dope community who will support my desire to document culture in futuristic formats then I will work on your project. But the one thing that would be more than enough? To be at one with nature. That is why when I was invited to EthDenver, I was more than eager to attend and contribute in a meaningful way.
Along with several of my colleagues, we had been planning for this week-long hackathon for weeks! The whole vibe of the conference is giving Homecoming vibes in a small town. Harmony seems to be winning when it comes to marketing around Denver. The community is throwing events every day, and Deadmau5 is the headliner for one of their bangers.
Since my last crypto conference in Portugal, the main difference with Eth Denver is that there are so many more womxn in attendance, and it's free. People seem to be a bit nicer to strike a conversation with and genuinely want to know about my projects. Full disclosure: I’m a founding governor in H.E.R. DAO and we gave out travel grants to 150 women from across the world with the crypto /financial support of Harmony One. It’s been amazing to see people I’ve been organizing with on Telegram IRL. You can read more about the evolving proposal here but from what I’ve witnessed, this network is solid. The $ONE token is will surely be in a better position after ETH Denver.
ETHDenver is a one-of-a-kind event. It’s the first cultured blockchain conference that’s free for every attendee. Crypto events usually cost a ton of money, but if you have a ticket to ETHDenver your kid will get some cool gifts and you’ll have an even better time because it’s free! The best part is that there’s truly something for everyone at ETHDenver . That means if this will be your first blockchain event you can still have a good time if you don’t have much knowledge because the community is so welcoming. This also makes it perfect for developers and investors who are playing around with the technology for the first time. Everyone in the blockchain and cryptocurrency community should visit this awesome and historic event!
Attention is Scarce
If there’s one thing that we all want is people’s attention. This is the one key message. It’s hard to get it and hold it. In a world where people tend to be influenced by a person’s follower count, web3 is about validating based on trust and association. This is how and why there are so many key contributors to Ethereum’s network. The below graphic showcases the DApps in the ecosystem. The most popular are the ones sponsoring ETH Denver.
Here’s a few takeaways from the one’s I’m excited about:
ApeWorX: As head of community, I’m excited to share the release our framework which deploys smart contract at scale. It’s open source and supports the python and ethereum community. https://banana-jam.apeworx.io/
Figment.io: Staking, and application layer solutions for token holders and developers investing in and building on Web3 technology. The head of protocols leads and super talented team of degen validators and their educational content is top notch. S/O to Holly and Tyler! :)
