012: BitClout Listed on BlockChain.com
The de-fi social network is not a scam, duh + Creator nodes to check out!
It's been three months since I've written about BitClout, a decentralized social network founded by ex-tech engineers—collectively led by someone named “DiamondHands” and backed by super legit venture capitalists, and now its token is being traded on Blockchain.com. This is a huge deal as the userbase quickly increases on BitClout.com, and more projects for its open-source infrastructure emerge from developers across the world.
Essentially, what this means is that you can’t buy BitClout (which allows you to buy other creators’ coins) on BitClout.com anymore. You have to go through an exchange, in this case, the exchange is Blockchain.com. Then you put in your address to have it connect to your wallet. Which makes it super legit because the investments are flowing in and out of Blockchain. The “block” location will always be located in the same spot.
When I first transferred $BTC in my “wallet” on BitClout.com, I knew there was a chance I’d never get it back, thus it was an amount I felt comfortable losing. Since then, the amount I transferred has, essentially, been appreciated.
Invest at your own risk. I am positioning BitClout like a Shopify for my content and ways investors can directly show their support to my business in an open source way. I just started selling past issues of Violet Summer Zine on Pay With BitClout, pwbc.io, which allows supporters to directly buy my work and it links to my BitClout account. This project was made by @alisher@renatavc@sergeiwing.
Since launching, the project is now truly open-source. Anyone can log into Github, download the code, and start building a node on the BitClout Blockchain since all information is essentially stored in the same spot. For developers, this is a relatively easy way to access the data that people are BitClouting.
I like also Prosper Clout as a BitClout project because it details lots of intel about whose on BitClout, for how long, their activity, and the type of people who are invested in their coin. The nosy strategist in me is just oozing with excitement and the creator of this project is super interesting as well.
They have a new initiative called HEROES that highlights positive accounts on Bitclout.com.
According to the site:
"Every month, we highlight BitClout users who inspired us, helped solve technical and non-technical challenges and made a meaningful impact on ProsperClout and the BitClout community." - Team ProsperClout
Not gonna lie, I’ve enjoyed witnessing new features launch daily, I’m excited to see BitClout take off and shake up the very much monopolized social space. They’ve introduced “diamond tipping,” which is a form of web tipping but for individual posts. They’ve also organized the messaging system so you can prioritize your token holders.
Anyways, any platform that has the nerve to go up against Twitter & Facebook is good in my hood. Whether you want to create an account on BitClout and start posting content or want to invest its Crypto coin on Blockchain.com and other exchanges, you’re still able to participate in how social media can be decentralized.
