020: The Hottest NFT Avatar Projects
The next generation of brands has arrived. What are you wearing in the metaverse?
While you were away, my Discord notifications have been poppin’ off. 🙋🏾♀️
I believe there’s a shift in the way we will consider avatar creations for social, and shortly thereafter virtual reality. As we decide on how we would like to represent ourselves online in the Web3 space, we need to be aware that we can no longer hide behind our profile pictures and anonymous usernames. With the emergence of Crypto Punks, Bored Apes, Bears, and every other animal-focused project, these digital skins will become expensive as they set the bar for what’s to come.
According to an Unstoppable Domains podcast, these are the current use cases of NFTs.
Word on the street is that emerging brands will transform into digital fashion entitles, creating skins to build online personalities with unique attributes to the physical forms. IRL photos will become how we use to interact in the 2.0 space and with the 3.0 space, there will be valuable digital avatars. I’ve only just begun to explore VR thanks to my Oculus hangout session this past week, and a lot can be done to spruce up the offices in Facebook Horizons. How we look in the metaverse will truly evolve even if it takes another decade for the masses to adopt. LVMH has already dipped its toe into the space with the launch of a mobile-first video game to target Gen Z and Alpha consumers. Balenciaga is already designing virtual galleries for its bespoke collections. We don’t need to keep looking like one another with the burden of fast fashion continuously facing scrutiny for its horrible sustainability problem.
As digital fashion takes up space in the avatar movement, we’ll simultaneously see a boom in the digital economy that will support digital-first creators who will be able to thrive and finally be able to make a living (to support themselves and their families) online. As we spend more time connected through solar power energy sources, the way we utilize our physical space will shift. We may no longer need all this material stuff that takes up way too much space. Admittedly, I have storage somewhere in a warehouse in New York, taking up space and moving farther away from my own memory. Could this new trend in digital fashion, thanks to avatars and online profiles, be a solution to more sustainable living? Time will only tell what transforms into value to store capital and what fades into the history of humanity as trash.
Top NFT Projects To Watch In No Particular Order:
Bored Ape Yacht Club (Insider Gossip: The owners are from Miami and went from rags to riches. They didn’t even own yachts before the project. Be on the lookout for an email about their upcoming party or event in Miami. If you know, you know I’ll get invited and I will only have room for a +1.)
The N Project (Insider Gossip: So I’m in this Telegram group and one of the DAO members is holding a bunch of them because numbers can be used to generate anything. The level of intrigue is to the max or this creator is trolling AF. According to this DAO member, collectors of the N Project NFTs have used them to generate haikus, color squares, and fractals. The sequence of numbers apparently represents an assortment of features and apparently, you can use the numbers to generate crypto punks.)

Unstoppable Domains is a site where you can buy a domain to host digital assets on the Etheruem blockchain. Once you buy a domain, you own it for life and you don’t have to keep paying yearly fees. It’s one fee and done service. I got the chance to chat with Brad Kam, one of the founders of this technology, and they are aiming to be the next layer of digital identities that will replace your public wallet key.
